Gut Bass
GUT BASS is a sampled instrument of an upright bass with gut strings, built for Kontakt, Ableton, and Logic (EXS24)
- The bass is a 7/8 size American Standard plywood bass from 1937 that has been used behind famous artists such as Ricky Skaggs and Allison Krauss.
- Strung up with gut strings - a favorite for bluegrass, rockabilly, Americana, and jazz bassists who favor them for their organic feel and fat, punchy sound.
- The samples were professionally recorded by Grammy award winning engineer Bill Deaton (Bob Dylan, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban) using a custom built tube mic, a Langevin tube 5116 preamp, and a Langevin 251EQ.
All bass sounds in video are made with Gut Bass:
The sample library consists of 3 different instruments:
- "Normal" - strung with gut strings
- "Slap" - gut strings played in a "slap" style ala rockabilly or bluegrass
- "Spiros" - strung with metal Spirocore stings for more sustain and modern sound
Here's a closer look at the patches:
The sample library consists of over 850 full length WAV files, spanning a number of velocities and key release, as well as harmonics, slides, percussive sounds, etc.
If you need a legit upright bass sound, it's here somewhere!
